September 15, 2025 HERITWIN Officially Welcomed into the ECHOES Ecosystem during Horizon Europe Cluster 2 Coordinators’ Day |
HERITWIN has taken its next major step forward by joining the wider community of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH). During the official Horizon Europe Cluster 2 Coordinators’ Day organized by the European Commission, our project was formally presented by Maria Claudia Bodino (Team Leader at DG RTD) as one of the eight newly selected ECHOES Sister Projects. The session brought together key coordinators and representatives to establish synergies across the newly completed Cultural Heritage Cloud ecosystem, which now spans 22 integrated projects involving 322 partners from 36 countries. trengthening the ECCCH Digital CommonsCoordinated by Hafenstrom and powered by a highly interdisciplinary consortium of 17 partners, HERITWIN is specifically designed to accommodate both major international institutions and resource-constrained local bodies. By aligning our data structures and open-source tools with the ECHOES European Cloud framework, our team will actively contribute to a unified, interoperable, and jointly owned digital heritage space for Europe.Stay tuned to our events page and channels for upcoming technical milestones, pilot case studies, and training materials as we build the future of resilient digital preservation.

September 9, 2026 HERITWIN at ECPPM 2026: Advancing Lifecycle Information Management |
On the 9th of September 2026, the HERITWIN project was featured at the European Conference on Product and Process Modelling (ECPPM 2026), hosted at Cardiff University, UK.Representing the consortium, Bjørn Arild Godager (NTNU) presented his research titled “A Conceptual Framework for Deriving Lifecycle Information Requirements from Stakeholder Activities, Decisions and Lifecycle Trigger Events.”The research addresses a significant challenge in asset management and the heritage sector: the disconnect between existing international standards. While frameworks such as ISO 55000 (Asset Management), ISO 19650 (Information Management), and ISO 7817 (Level of Information Need) offer complementary principles, they are often treated as distinct domains. Bjørn’s presentation introduced a conceptual framework that acts as the “missing link,” demonstrating how to systematically derive lifecycle information requirements directly from stakeholder activities, decisions, and trigger events.By establishing clear traceability from organisational objectives to operational data use, this framework supports information continuity, transparent decision-making, and consistent asset management—all of which are core pillars of the HERITWIN project. This participation underlines HERITWIN’s commitment to scientific excellence and its active role in shaping the future of digital twins and interoperability in the construction and cultural heritage sectors. We look forward to integrating these conceptual insights into our ongoing project pilots and standardisation activities.

September 28, 2026 - September 29, 2026 HERITWIN at the AIOTI Days |
The HERITWIN project had presence at the recent AIOTI Days 2026, held in Florence on 28–29 September. Within the framework of the eighth thematic session dedicated to Cultural Heritage, our project was presented as a key reference in the application of Digital Twins and advanced new technologies for the preservation and management of European heritage. The session featured the active participation of our team, represented by our coordinator, HAFENSTROM, alongside partners KIKLO, TRIALOG and NTNU. This multidisciplinary representation allowed us to showcase the project’s innovative approach, highlighting how the creation of an interoperable data ecosystem is fundamental for driving social and technical innovation in the heritage sector.During the event, the speakers explored how HERITWIN’s methodologies facilitate an essential transition: transforming the information needs of sector agents into reliable digital solutions. This approach not only improves decision-making accuracy but also guarantees more efficient and sustainable management of cultural assets. This participation in Florence has been a fundamental platform for establishing synergies with other key players in the European ecosystem and strengthening the long-term impact of HERITWIN.
